If your business has stagnated, started to decline, or you’re struggling to really drive the growth you’d like to see, then maybe you’ve got stuck in your comfort zone…
This is a common situation that many business owners experience, typically having been in business around 5-10 years. They’ve built up a business, got caught up in the day to day running of it and got stuck in the familiarity and comfort of where they’re at.
When this happens, it’s all too easy to accept the status quo!
They lose sight of the importance to continually grow and improve… both within the business and themselves. When this focus is lost, the result is often a loss of motivation, confidence and desire to drive greater success in the business.
This is a common point that many business owners are at when they start working with an ActionCoach. For the many that have succeeded in taking a new direction and taken positive steps to rejuvenate their business, there has been one common factor…
Without exception, they have been willing to accept change and step outside their comfort zone…
So how do you break free from your comfort zone and begin to make changes?
- By definition, our comfort zone is a ‘comfortable’ place, so getting used to feeling uncomfortable is a good first step! Expand your boundaries, do small things that challenge you and get used to the initial discomfort. The more you do this, the easier it gets!
- Acknowledge how you view failure… many people don’t try new things, because of a fear of failure, but remember that the most successful people have usually also failed at many things along the way!
- Embrace learning – read books, listen to business audio, watch videos and attend events. And related to this…
- Accept the things you don’t know in business and make positive steps to learn them. Consider how you can apply the key business principles of TIME, TEAM, MONEY and SYSTEMS in ways you may not have considered or even thought possible.
- Recognise the importance of having someone outside your business to challenge you and hold you accountable to the things you know need to be done.
- If you don’t already, start planning tomorrow’s diary today! Plan in activities that are both urgent and important and start to see your business move in the right direction!
